In this branding package we did for Little Owl Bakery located here in Tulsa, OK we wanted to create a very cute, organic, and “homemade quality” feel that you can sense from the get go. We started with a logo that was fairly simple, and fun – playing to the name. Because Jaimee, the owner, expressed to us that one day she would like to own a physical bakery we experimented a lot with sizes, colors and various patterns that would look GREAT on packaging. In doing this we decided on a circular shaped zig-zag pattern to create a badge like logo.
After we had the logo nailed and Jaimee was happy with it we moved on to designing the website! We took it a step further with the zig-zag pattern and used it with a raw, stationary style piece of paper. We initially used the VW van as a filler slide but Jaimee loved it so much we just kept it. Plus, it went perfectly with the color scheme.
For continuity we also customized a “loading page” so whenever someone clicks to visit a different page on her site it goes to a brown page with a yellow badge of her logo to enforce her brand…Not to mention it just looks smooth! We had so much fun experimenting and creating subtle additions to an overall clean and simple website. Usually, we try and keep things fairly simple but it was time to do something new and stretch ourselves as designers too. Sometimes this takes more time but it’s always worth it.
The final piece to the puzzle of Little Owl Bakery was creating some sweet, high quality business cards. We went with a thick 24pt card stock that had a teal stock sandwiched between two white pieces of card stock. The teal went with the color scheme and also made the cards very rigid and of high quality which speaks volumes when handed out and makes someone want to hold on to it more. Again, to reinforce her brand we used fun patterns, the logo in a couple different variations on both sides of the card, and also utilized the VW van on the cards! We enjoyed this project from beginning to end! The creative process was such a journey!
